Principal, Tara Shioya

Tara Shioya is the founder and principal of Epigram. A content strategist with more than 20 years experience, Tara has delivered numerous workshops on content strategy and web writing and led user-centred content strategy and editorial projects for corporations and non-profit organizations in North America, Europe, and Japan.

Tara specializes in helping clients create “content with purpose” – content designed to support organizational goals and meet target audience needs and desires. Past clients include the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC), the American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC), TELUS, Georgetown University, and Novartis.

Prior to founding Epigram in 2006, Tara was the director of editorial strategy at MetaDesign in San Francisco and a director of user experience (UX) and content strategy at Studio Archetype/Sapient in San Francisco, London, Tokyo, and Munich. A veteran of the dot-com boom, Tara was a pioneer in developing and promoting content strategy as a distinct discipline and specialization within UX. Tara lives with her husband, daughter, and dog in Vancouver, Canada.
